Personality:
Youji tends to be a bit... bratty. He and Natsuo are convinced they can really do whatever they wish. He is upfront with everyone and despite that he likes Ritsuka and Soubi well enough. He has no sense of pain so he enjoys watching others in pain especially in wordspell battles. Youji seems to be surprised by most normal day occurrences like Ritasuka's mother abusing him. He and Natsuo thinks it's great and Youji even laughs, saying that he and Natsuo were abused by being neglected.

With Natsuo he can be really cute. The pair knows they are fated to be with each other. Youji is confident in his abilities to the point where he thinks that they cannot be beaten. Though even after the defeat from the Loveless fighter unit, he remains rather confident. Though he can be kind of nice in his own way, he and Natsuo try to help Ritsuka understand how to be a sacrifice.

History:
He and Natsuo were the second man made fighting units. Nagisa made he and Natsuo into the second Zero pair after she worked out the kinks of the first pair. They had been undefeated, the unique ability she made them with caused them not to feel any pain what so ever. It gave the boys much confidence though they were flawed in that, pain was a warning signal that they could not feel.

That eventually led to their first defeat. After countless failed attempts to bring in Loveless, Zero was sent out to do so. They fought Soubi alone, though they told him to call Ritsuka he refused. The boys were doing quite well and even went as far as driving a nail through Soubi's hand simply to see the pain. Though they had miscalculated.

In the end they were defeated. Their bodies are not capable of sweating or goosebumps and so major swift temperature changes severely affect them. Youji became extremely weakened and completely restrained. They were not permitted to go back by Nagisa and so Soubi took them to his place where they have lived with him since.

Seeing as Nagisa favors Youji rather noticeably because he resembles her younger sister he took her slight to heart a bit more.
